Tips for clarity when searching for your wedding dress.

The search for the perfect wedding dress can initially make you dream, but if you venture out without clarifying several aspects, the search can turn into a nightmare. Here are some tips:

- Defined location.

If you don't yet know if you'll be getting married on the beach, in the city, in the forest, or at a hacienda or garden, it will be hard to visualize yourself. First, clearly define the location.

- Exact date.

Even if you're getting married in Mexico City where the seasons aren't sharply contrasting, the weather can definitely influence the style of the dress. Thick sleeves and layers upon layers of fabric in the middle of spring could look very out of place. If you don't know when you'll be getting married, you'll try things on and feel lost regarding simple aspects like whether long or short sleeves suit you best.

- Your personal style.

It's important that you don't feel like you're wearing a costume in your wedding dress. The style should match your personality. If you are normally classic/elegant and romantic, you should opt for styles that reflect this, not something super sensual or very modern if that's not how you usually dress. The most common styles, in addition to the four mentioned, are also bohemian and minimalist. Identify the three most prominent in your way of dressing, so you won't waste time trying on something that isn't for you. This can even influence where you look; for example, if you know you like to be unique and original, perhaps you should go directly to a designer to create something exclusive for you.

- Trends.

It never hurts to research wedding dress trends. This doesn't mean you have to wear all of them, but you'll see what you like and choose the ones that captivate you and can give you a clearer idea of what you'd like. - Your body type.

Generally, you should know how your proportions relate to a "commercial" body type, where the waist is smaller and the hips and shoulders are balanced without exceeding the waist too much. If you know that your hips are very small in relation to your shoulders, you have an inverted triangle body shape, for example. In that case, you should look for silhouettes that can create volume in your hips and make your shoulders look finer. Someone with these proportions should avoid a mermaid dress, for instance, and if it is their dream, then find personalized details like overskirts or peplums that can be added to that part.

- Comfort.

You know yourself and should know your tolerance for, for example, wearing very tight clothing, or very heavy clothing, or fabrics that might have sequins and itch you. If you are clear about this, you can easily rule out things that you ultimately know you won't endure.
