Difference between a ready-to-wear wedding dress and a custom wedding dress.

You're starting to look for your wedding dress and you realize that neither in pictures nor in stores is there anything that convinces you 100%. You like the skirt of one, the neckline of another, the sleeves of this one, the fabric of that one. This is a great sign that your ideal dress doesn't exist but must be created for you; you're looking for a custom dress.

If, on the other hand, you are actually choosing between 3 to 5 dresses that you like as they are, perhaps knowing a little more about the brand, designer, or the inspiration behind its creation will help you make a better decision. You are looking for a dress from an existing collection.

The main difference between a collection dress and a custom one is that the former exists as a designer's or brand's proposal with which several women can identify. The less commercial its origin – meaning with more details, materials, and a more special way of presenting itself – the greater its exclusivity. It is not a one-of-a-kind dress, yet some may have customized details.

A 100% custom dress is a unique proposal for a single girl; it doesn't exist until it's created for her. The main inspiration is the bride who will wear it, and its technical and aesthetic design details will be governed by her. This piece can be entirely proposed by the designer, who analyzes what will be best, or it can be designed in collaboration with the bride, who can contribute her ideas, which will then be refined or complemented professionally to be correctly created.

A collection dress requires the bride to adapt more to the dress, even when it's made to measure. A custom piece completely adapts to the client.

At Débh Herrera, we like brides to feel unique, but also guided. Even with collections, we aim for them to truly offer something different from what they'll find in stores to give them something more exclusive. We are also willing to make small customizations such as changing fabric, placing details in a different spot, or adding or removing certain parts like sleeves.

And in our custom designs, there will always be an analysis of the wearer's characteristics and tastes before anything is created.
