A custom dress is not the same as recreating a dress from a photo.

As a fashion designer in Mexico who creates custom designs, it is sometimes difficult to explain to clients not only that hiring a dressmaker is not the same as hiring a designer; it also involves making them understand that working on a customized garment does not mean identically reproducing a dress from a photograph.

When a client sends us an image and tells us that she wants a copy of an existing design that is not ours, we immediately explain that we can draw inspiration from the style, but we do not make identical replicas. After all, a strapless will always be a strapless, a straight skirt a straight skirt, an A-line skirt an A-line skirt, etc.; but we aim for the piece to be inspired by and adapted to our clients. Customization involves considering your body type, style, hair color, skin tone, eyes, etc., to determine what will make you look best. We also analyze what you want to project with the garment and ensure your message is clearly conveyed through texture, drape, color, cut, and details.

The idea is that the dress adapts to you, not you to the dress. That is why our clients almost always tell us in the end that they like the result more than what they saw in the image that inspired them; that is the consequence of something that arises for the first time by being inspired by you.

We understand that most people need visual references beyond a sketch to understand what a unique creation will be based on, but out of respect for designers and because Débh Herrera is a designer, we never create an identical copy. Sometimes, just the color, a different embroidery, a special detail, an original texture; they allow you to visualize something completely new, unique, totally to your taste, and stemming from you.

So, if you have seen an image of a dress you like, imagine how you would make it more "you," what you would change. If you have no idea or don't know how to achieve it, we will advise you and make it a reality.
